Something I Learnt at the Meeting

I learnt from the support group meeting that there was another person who had a Botox injection around the same time as my injection and hers, like mine she considered did not work at all. After my injection I had none of the side effects of a breathy voice or difficulty with swallowing. At first I thought that it was like a previous injection, no side effects but it worked. This time there were no side effects and it didn't work. However somehow I managed to have a reasonable speaking voice until the next appointment, 6 months later. When I told the doctor about the previous one not working he said that it may have been a variation in the strength of the batch of Botulinum toxin! Really sounds like a hit and miss affair at present, the doctor has to locate the right spot for the injection and then you hope that the Botox used is the correct strength.

Anyway I am happy with my progress so far, after my Botox injection which was one week prior to Christmas. Today I really felt empowered being able to use my voice for ordering things over the dreaded counter, not having to repeat myself and using a voice that I am happy with. It makes me feel so much more in control of my life and more connected with all people around me.

Next week a friend is going to deliver a copy of one of Dr Sarno's books as I am curious about his methods and I really dont want to be taking Botox for the rest of my life. I consider that really being in control of my life!
